Solid Steel Saturdays

Clint Z -- Footplant X-up -- Austin, TX

Due to my current work situation Monday - Fridays are pretty stressful. Luckily I've got a sweet crew to shred with on the weekends and forget about work for a little while.
Today was filled with shredding. After some breakfast tacos at Whole Foods, Forrest and I went and meet up with Clint, Todd and JohnO at Mable Davis. Mable was prety crowded but still got some good soul carves on. After Mable we went to the Red Box Trails for a little bit, we I sat on my ass and watched everyone else shred. After Red Box we headed up North. First stop is pictured above, it was a weird ditch/ bowl thing. After the ditch/bowl we got some Vietnamese food and headed to the Pep Boys Ditch for the last session of the day. This was the first time I got to ride the Pep Boys Ditch, that place is amazing.

Pictures of you

So Dean Dickinson hit me up a few weeks ago to see if I would be interested in having something displayed at the Team Schralp Art Show he is throwing at the new Lotek store. I am always down to help out my boys but wasn't sure if I'd be able to send anything. Sadly most of my slides are sitting in tote in my sisters basement in Portland. I was able to find a few photos on old my computer that could be used.

The photos were printed on a Chromira printer on matte paper and mounted to 3/16th black Gatorboard.

TOP:
This photo was shot back in 2001 in Sacramento during a road trip to the 2-Hip Meet The Street in SF back in the day. I had just gotten a new camera, lens and flash the day before we left and didn't really know what I was doing. I always liked this photo. The image came out a little to bright and dark. I'll probably post the photo here soon.

LOWER RIGHT:
This photo is posted somewher below. It's John Bristol carving a tree in SE Portland back in 2002 or 2003.

LOWER LEFT:
Another photo that you can below Chet Black carving a random full pipe somewhere in Washington.

east side, west side, BAY SIDE!!!

Ben Truitt -- Bank to Rail Peg Stall -- Kodiak, AK -- June 2002
The gentleman pictured above is Ben Truitt. In 7th grade Ben was the first one in our crew to get a BMX bike, and it's his fault that I got into BMX. Thanks man I owe you.
This picture was shot back in the summer of 2002. It's hard to tell, but there is a small bank leading up to this rail. I shot this photo in color but scanned it in black and white as I intended to use it in the never completed Disaster Zine Issue # 6.
Although I haven't seen Ben to much in recent years, I bet there is a good chance that his bike set up is pretty similar to what you are seeing in the photograph. Also I bet he would be disgusted by the way most bikes look these day.

Looks like Adams going into the trunk

Chester Blacksmith -- Full Pipe Carve -- Somewhere in Washington -- 2003
We all know Chet can carve a full pipe much higher, but I've always liked how this photo came out plus it reminds me of the worry free days of my youth.

Spring Break!!!

Back in the spring of 2002 a whole bunch (and I do mean a whole bunch) of us from Portland, Salem and Eugene went on a rode trip to Southern Oregon to ride the parks down there. The trip was featured in an old props and Ryan Evans and I also shot some photos for Faction. Below are the photos that I shot.

Riley Peetz got the cover doing a fast plant to table at his old home turf the Churchill Skatepark. It was pretty crazy when I saw a photo I took at a newstand in Vancouver, BC.

The Roseburg park is always a good time and one the highlights was watchng Brian Mudge boost the bowl there.

Prineville had a couple locals on the trip as well. Jesse Whaley ledge ride to turndown at the Grants Pass park.

Two of my favorite people Chester Blacksmith with a Disaster in Roseburg and Jamie McParland Footplant Tailwhip outside of the park in Talent. About 20 or so of us crashed at Chesters parents on this Trip. Jamie wrote the story for the magazine.

Adam Perez turndown at the Roseburg park.

Tofurkey is good

Forrest Berkey -- Round Rock, TX
Went and rode the Round Rock park today. Since it was Thanksgiving there was barley anyone there. Last year we went and rode the park on Thanksgiving as well. It was freezing that day. It was actually colder in Austin that day then it was at my parent house in Alaska. This year it wasn't cold at all it was about 75 out (pretty much perfect). After the park session came home and had a Thanksgiving feast consisting of Tofurkey and tamales. To quote Ice Cube "Today was a good day!"

San Sharkos

Yesterday we went and rode the little street park in San Marcos then headed down to San Antonio and rode a ditch and the concrete park. It was so much fun!

Back from Vegas.

Interbike was awesome. This guy was at Interbike and keep things entertaining the whole time.
Bristol -- Tree Ride -- Portland, Or in either 2002 or 2003

Monday, September 22, 2008

Token slogan goes here to point out the fact that I'm excited to go to Vegas for Interbike

Bristol gets this weeks update since I'll be sharing a hotel with him at Interbike this week. I'm excited to see all the homies and finally get a chance to check out Vegas.
These photos were shot back in 2002 for an interview with John for Movement BMX. I think the wall slap and the long lens shot ran in the zine.
Yo Dan from Movement if your out there hit me up.

Forrest Berkey - Bermslider - Churchil Skatepark - Eugene, OR 2001

This is probably one of my favorite photos that I've shot. For me it was one of the first photos that ever stood out and looked a little different.

Kids of the K-Hole

Erick Hinkle - Turndown - Sawmill Trails -- Kodiak, AK 2002 or 2003?

This photo is taken at the Sawmill Trails in my hometown of Kodiak, AK. I believe I shot this back in the summer of 2002, but it may be from 2003 (the last time I was in Kodiak during the summer). These trails have been around since 1997 and from what I hear the Dudes still get them up and hitting during the summer still.

PS Happy belated Birthday Finkle

All work and no play makes Bogues a dull boy

So yeah I have been slacking. Slacking real hard. Sorry for the lack of updates. It's been around 100 out pretty much since I got back from Portland. So no new photos. Hopefully i'll have an update before October (when I may actually be able to go outside again).

Live From PDX!

I've been in Portland since the 1st and will be here until the 7th. Man do I miss this place! We've been shredding a lot. Rode Battleground, Tigard and Vancouver so far. I think we might be going back to Tigard today. The pics below are from the Tigard session on Wednesday.

More 5 year old photos

So I'm starting to get a hang of my new camera, but don't really have anything new that's worth posting. So here are a few photos from these weird metal quarter pipes that were outside of some metal fabricating shop in Eugene back in 2003.

An actual photo update

So far dealing with the heat hasn't been to bad. I think I'm starting to get a hang of how my camera works. Here are some photos from today.

Forrest Berkey

This is Leo with a Luc-e. We ran into him and some other dudes at this spot and rode with them for a little while. It was a fun time.

Old Photos

So I haven't shot any photos since the stuff in the last post. It was hot and I went swimming a bunch. I have found a bunch of old photos on my old Emac. Some of those photos were of Travis Lyons. So that is what you get today, some photos from 2003 (shit this stuff really 5 years old?) of Travis.

Bethel

Gig Harbor, WA - Shot during a road trip up to Vancouver for the first Vancouver Metro Jam

Renton, WA -- From the same Road Trip as the photo above

Fall 2003 -- The Roseburg Skate Church (That place was fun)

First riding photos

Went out riding yesterday with a bunch of dudes. It was pretty hot out, but then again that's to be expected in Texas. So these are the first riding photos with the new camera and the first riding photos I've shot in probably 2 years. So forgive me for the out of focus, bad cropping and bad exposure.

I know the timing is off, but I kind of like the photo.
Vinnie -- Bar Spin at the Cabana banks.

Devin did a bunch of Turndowns for me. Thanks man

I forgot how scary it can be to shoot with a fisheye
Forrest -- Needs to put a shirt on

YEAH DEAN!

I am really hoping this doesn't turn into one of those sites were all I do is post links to other sites news but this is sweet.

My main man Dean just got a photo for the Wall Papers section on RIDEBMX.COM
